President Uhuru Kenyatta, on wednesday, march 25, declared a daily curfew, effective Friday, March 27, to reduce the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
In his address to the nation, the commander-in-chief of the armed forces said the curfew will run from 7 pm to 5 am during which everyone will be expected to be indoors.

Night curfew means;

• With fewer night movements, more security agencies will be deployed during the day to enforce self-distancing, lockdown, stay home calls, etc which will go along way in managing the spread of the virus.
• This will further strengthen the closing of bars, social joints, reduce travels because when you think of traveling that will find you on the road during curfew, you better cancel the trip.
• Most long-distance travels happen at night. Traveling is the surest way of spreading or catching the virus. Now, this will bring travel inconveniences (because any travel plan must consider curfew, social distancing, crowd control, etc. and you don’t want to find yourself contravening the law), so people will just cancel travel plans.
• Enhanced security measures; due to potential economic hardships, the crime rate may rise. Any suspect thinking of committing a crime at night, risks in all ways. Anyone found at night by security agencies is a criminal by default.
• It’s another form of lockdown. It’s a marinated lockdown. It’s 50% lockdown.

The government is doing everything to ensure our safety during this pandemic, let us stay at home.
